Number 2 in a closed edition of 13. Inspired by Gustave Dorè illustrations from Dante's DIVINE COMEDY from the "Woods of the Suicides". Utilizing the basic concept of lost souls turning into oak trees, the piece instead depicts grief at the loss of a spouse by adding the reclining nude female embracing the trunk, while the roots of tree figure encase her for eternity. UNTIL DEATH, as in the marriage vows. This bronze was included in the invited works for the 97th annual American Artist's Professional League salon and was exhibited at the Reading Public Museum in 2025 and won Outstanding Sculpture at the 112th annual Grand National Exhibition and exhibited at the prestigious Salmagundi Club in NYC.
