"Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" is a series of allegorical watercolours exploring the passage of time, the morphing of material beauty, and the atemporality of absolute values. The paintings express a deliberate ambiguity: what is truly beautiful retains its beauty even in ruin, because its beauty comes from its ability to transcend the substance of things and communicate that which is immaterial and not subjected to time, while the splendours and glories of the world remain transient. All earthly glory has its appointed season - it flourishes, fades, and passes away. Executed on 100% hot-pressed cotton archival watercolour paper using professional artist-grade pigments, including natural mineral pigments derived from tiger's eye, selected to add a subtle granulation effect and warmth to the composition.
